Numia Vero Volley Milano have added Dominican opposite Alondra Tapia to their 2026–27 roster, giving coach Chicco Blengini another physical attacking option as the Italian season gets underway.
Tapia is 22 years old, stands 193 cm and arrives in Italy after a career that has already crossed several major volleyball markets. Milano announced the move on October 6, with the Dominican international joining the group during the opening week of the Serie A1 season.
A career that has moved quickly across leagues
Tapia began in the Dominican Republic before moving to Japan in 2020, where she spent three seasons with Furukawa Gakuen High School. She then joined Deportivo Géminis in Peru for 2023–24 before moving into senior professional stops in China and Russia.
Her 2024–25 season included time with Tianjin Bohai Bank and Lokomotiv Kaliningrad. With Lokomotiv she won the Russian championship, then moved to Türk Hava Yolları for 2025–26, where Milano’s announcement credits her with 116 points.
The move to Milano will be Tapia’s first experience in Italy’s top division. She joins a club that started the new league season with a win and already has a high-level opposite presence in captain Paola Egonu, so her role may be shaped by both depth and the need to manage a long domestic and European schedule.
International experience with the Dominican Republic
Tapia has also been part of the Dominican Republic national-team program since 2023. Her recent international résumé includes gold at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, the 2023 U23 Pan American Cup and the 2024 NORCECA Final Six.
She was named best opposite at both the 2024 NORCECA Final Six and the 2024 U23 Pan American Cup, and Milano also list her as the top scorer at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games and best opposite at the 2026 U23 Pan American Cup.
What the signing changes for Milano
The immediate value is flexibility. Milano now have another natural opposite who can absorb domestic minutes, provide a different physical profile and reduce the need to stretch the same attacking options across every competition.
Tapia was expected to be available for Milano’s second Serie A1 match at Macerata after joining the group during the week. VolleyBond is tracking the domestic race through the Italy Serie A1 Women standings.
